DUNDALK FC have confirmed the signings of Lorcan Shannon and Mark O'Brien. Shannon signs on loan from champions Shamrock Rovers until the end of the season while O'Brien has signed on an amateur form with the Lilywhites.

Shannon, a winger, featured for the Shamrock Rovers U19 side, which incidentally lost out to Dundalk in the Enda McGuill Memorial Cup quarter-final and will be hopeful of gaining some first-team experience from now until the end of the season. Dundalk have expressed their thanks to Shamrock Rovers for their co-operation in allowing the 18 year-old join them on loan.

O'Brien, a centre midfielder, joins from neighbours Drogheda United. The well travelled player has come up against his new club on numerous occasions, many in the First Division when he was part of the Shamrock Rovers side that won the 2006 second tier finishing a point clear of Dundalk and then 2 years later was part of the Shelbourne side who finished second to Dundalk by the same margin. He also lined out for Bray Wanderers and Bohemians through the years. Mark follows in the footsteps of his father, Derek who was a Dundalk player in the 1970's under Jim McLaughlin.

New signing Paul Whelan is in line to make his debut for the Louth club at home to Cork City as he has received clearance to play.

On the flip side, midfielder Robert Waters has left the club by mutual consent. The young Cork man had featured in 19 games since joining the club in February. Dundalk thanked Waters for his time and wish him the best in the future.

Dundalk have been busy this summer with players coming in and exiting so there may be more news to come from Oriel Park yet! Stay tuned to extratime.ie for all the latest goings on!
