Cork City v UCD

With a saviour of Cork City looking more likely every day the team will surely be more confident than they have throughout the troubles going into this game against renowned bogey side UCD at home on Friday night.

The Leesiders are without the services of several first team regulars for the Students visit to Turners Cross. Colin Healy picked up a nasty shoulder injury in Cobh so misses out again. Joe Gamble and Pat Sullivan will be serving a one-match ban plus Cllian Lordan is also ruled out as he continues his comeback from an knee injury he picked up against Derry City a forthnight ago.

Alan Matthews, speaking ahead of the game, admits UCD will be formidable opposition “Both of our previous meetings with UCD have been tight affairs. We were perhaps a bit fortunate to have got the three points here at Turner’s Cross early on in the season, while our performance at the Belfield Bowl was somewhat of an improvement on that and we will need something similar tonight if we want to get the right result.”

The Students have only one doubt for their trip down south, Shane McFaul is suffering with a chest infection and a decision on the midfielders availability will be made tomorrow. Despite losing out to Sligo Rovers last weekend manager Pete Mahon is still positive going in to the game "We've played very well in patches, we just can't score," said Mahon. He did admit that Cork will provide a tough game for his chargess though "They're one of the best football teams in the league. It would be a difficult game for anybody," explained Mahon.

Cork could do neighbouring stugglers Cobh a favour by winning here as UCD continue their struggle to beat the drop

ExtraTime.ie Prediction : As already mentioned the good news regarding Corks financial state over the last 48 hours could mean that the side could return to form and UCD, the Rebel Army's bogey side might have a very tough game on their hands despite Cork not having anything to play for league wise. It won't be a walkover as Mahon usually sets his side up well against the big teams but we still predict a Cork win here at extratime.ie. 2-0 might be good value for your money if you enjoy a punt.
