Dundalk FC today secured the signatures of Philip McCabe and William Woods. Both players have signed on amateur terms from now until the end of the season.

The Lilywhites are in a dire financial position and having already released goalkeeper Ger Hanley and left-sided player Dan Cunningham, who had turned professional to sign for the club
earlier in the year, caretaker manager Darius Kierans has moved quickly to aid his depleted squad.

The signings are Dundalk's first arrivals of this July transfer window.

18 year-old McCabe, is a left-back and comes from Bohemians while Woods is a 21 year-old striker who previously featured for Drogheda United. Both are expected to be included in the squad for this
evening's match with Derry City.

Speaking on their arrival, Kierans is pleased that he has been able to acquire the youngsters and feels they will be of crucial value to the Louth side.

“Philip and William are two young, hungry players, and it’s good to have them at the club,” Kierans said.

“Unfortunately, the budget has to be cut and we’ve already started doing that, because the most important thing is the survival of the club.

“We have signed both players on amateur terms and they will be valuable to us between now and the end of the season.”

Dundalk take on Derry City these evening in Oriel Park, kick-off 7.45.
