UCD have announced the signing of former striker David McMillan following his return from a brief spell in Australia.

The 23 year old returns to Belfield after a short period with Brisbane Premier League side Olympic FC, for whom he scored three goals in just six appearances.

McMillan came up through the Leinster Senior League ranks at UCD before helping the Students to win the First Division title in 2009 and retain their Premier League status the following season. After three successful years at Belfield in which he found the net twenty times, McMillan was snapped up by St. Patrick’s Athletic and joined his brother Evan at Richmond Park.

Speaking to the club’s official website, the forward was clearly delighted on his return to UCD.

"I am delighted to be back in Belfield. I know plenty of the lads from before and I am itching to get back playing.

"I still have time left on my college course and again it is the perfect opportunity to play top level football and study at the same time" he concluded.

McMillan trained with his new team mates on Monday afternoon and his return is a timely boost to Martin Russell as his side look to pull away from the foot of the Airtricity League table.

After just one season in Inchicore, he decided to move to Australia to pursue his third level studies but has made a swift return to the League of Ireland.

The Dublin born striker could make his UCD comeback against Bohemians on Sunday.
