Kerley adds two to Athlone squad

Athlone Town have confirmed the signing of Stephen Last and Barry O’Mahoney as Mike Kerley’s latest signings of the transfer window.

 

20-year-old central defender Stephen Last has represented the Republic of Ireland U14, U15 and U16 level while playing with Lourdes Celtic from Dublin signs from Bray Wanderers.

 

He joined Wanderers in February 2011 after returning from a spell with Cardiff City. He made his League of Ireland debut for Bray on the 10th June 2011 scoring a 54th minute goal against Galway United helping his side to a 3-0 win in Terryland Park.

 

19-year-old Barry O’Mahoney is a midfielder who can play centrally or on the right hand side. The Sligo native who is a former Irish Schools and U19 international joins the club having previously played for both Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps. He played for Sligo Rovers A Championship side in 2009 before graduating to the senior squad that season making his debut in a 2-2 draw against Cork City.

 

Having impressed Paul Cook he was included in Cooks first team squad for 2010 but failed to make any appearances. He then moved onto Finn Harps making his debut against Athlone in the stadium playing a part in their 1-0 victory.
