Six point deduction hangs over Russia

 

 

UEFA have issued a suspended six point deduction to the Russian Football Union following incidents involving Russian supporters at EURO 2012.

 

The ruling which could be triggered by any further disturbances adjudged to be the fault of Russian fans. The punishment comes following video footage of Russian fans attacking stewards inside the stadium during Russia’s first Group game against the Czech Republic. Illicit banners and the use of fireworks were also cited by UEFA.

 

The suspended points deduction will last until the end of the Play-Offs for the 2016 European Championships. Russia have three days to pst an appeal against the ruling.
