Liverpool Legends confirm Finn Park date
FORMER Irish soccer stars Ray Houghton, John Aldridge, Phil Babb and Jason McAteer will be part of an all-star Liverpool Legends team that will take on a Finn Harps Legends XI in a fundraising game for Harps on Saturday 4th October at Finn Park.
The Irish legends form a star-studded cast that also includes the likes of Alan Kennedy, Phil Neal, Michael Thomas, Gary Gillespie, Jan Molby, John Durnin and David Fairclough.
At 3pm on October 4th they tackle the might of a Harps legends team that includes the likes of Harry Walsh, Tom Mohan, Donal O'Brien, Pierce Walsh, Jim Sheridan, Con McLaughlin, Trevor Scanlon, Maurice Toland, Johnny Kenny, Paul Hegarty, Felix Healy, Paddy McGrenaghan and John Minnock snr, among others yet to be confirmed.
Efforts are also being made to entice other members of the 1974 FAI Cup winning team, including the great Brendan Bradley, to make appearances on the home side.
The match was made possible due to the efforts of a sub-committee, headed by Aidan Campbell, who says that the day will not be solely about the football. "We have organised loads of match-day entertainment in the form of cross-bar challenge, penalty kick competition, face painting for the kids and other fun things to make it a family day out," he said.
The Liverpool legends have played a number of games in Ireland already this year. Current Harps boss Paul Hegarty played in a North West select v Liverpool Legends match recently in Drumahoe.
Match tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster outlets, on the official Finn Harps website or direct from the club, minus the online booking fee. Seated tickets cost €25, adult terrace €20 and concessionary terrace tickets are €15.
The match will be followed by a Gala Dinner at which seats are available for €100 per seat. Each table will have at least one Liverpool legend seated at it. The dinner begins at 7.30pm and will be held at the Raddison Hotel Letterkenny.
Gala tickets can be got from the Harps website or from Just let Properties, Pearse Rd, Letterkenny and Remax, Ballybofey as well as the Club Office.
