After finishing an entertaining interview with Dundalk FM 100, Bray Wanderers Director of Football Pat Devlin was understandably in a great mood after seeing his young Seagulls come away from Oriel Park with a good victory. Speaking to extratime.ie, Devlin was delighted with his side win and was overjoyed by their hard-working attitude.

"I am delighted with the win. Very happy to get the three points. I think we deserved it in the end. It's not an easy place to come any time and to come away with the win is fantastic. Jay of course got another two goals which is really helping us and I am delighted.

"Our lads were great. Very hard-working from start to finish. We done well."

The Seagulls in the end ran out comfortable winners but Devlin felt it was a good game.

"I thought it was a good game. Both teams passed it. We hit the crossbar, they hit the post, both 'keepers had work to do, corners were tricky. It was a good game. Coming to Dundalk there's great tradition, always has been and always will be and it's great to come here, especially to win!"

That was Bray Wanderers third victory in a row and Devlin is happy with how his team have done so far.

"That's three on the trot and a draw with Rovers, we could win the league if we keep this up! But no, I am happy with how we've done, we play a certain way and it works for us because of the players we've got. That's the system we've adapted to. We have worked hard and have got used to it."

Jason Byrne hit a brace for the Seagulls and the Bray boss couldn't hide his delight with how good the 33 year-old has been for them.

"Jason has been amazing. He's been around a while now and it's great to have his experience in the squad. He has come to us at the right time, he started with us and now he's going to finish with us - fantastic!"

Devlin went on to talk about how the experience players are imperative to his sides make up and is delighted with their contribution, not only on the pitch but to the young players too.

"Danny O'Connor at the back, Jay (Jason Byrne) up front and Darren Quigley in goal are fantastic. They are great on the pitch and are important to us. They are excellent with the young players and are taking them on. That's what we are trying to do. We still need to add to the squad but we just don't have the finance."

The victory lifts Bray Wanderers up to sixth place in the table after the first round of games. However, Devlin isn't looking past consolidation.

"Our aim is to avoid relegation. That's all we can look for. We have the majority of young players and are trying to develop them. That's all. A run in the cup would be lovely, wouldn't it? But avoiding relegation is the important thing."
