SD GALWAY

Basement side SD Galway welcome Limerick to Terryland Park on Friday night as they look to upset the title favourites who, sadly for them, look like they are finally clicking. It hasn’t been the best of starts for the newly rebranded Salthill outfit, having a mini league between themselves and Galway rivals Mervue develop at the bottom of the First Division table. But Tony Mannion’s men are well capable of turning over any side at home.

Successive two nil defeats for Devon does not leave them in the best state for tackling Pat Scully’s men, especially without the services of Mikey Gilmore, Nicky Curran, Paddy Quinlan, Brian Gaffney and Oscar Sibanda.

While that first win may seem elusive, if Limerick come into this game thinking they have it won, SD Galway may just raise their performance levels and produces a shock.

LIMERICK FC

The newly crowned Munster champions are looking like a team finally falling into place. Their defensive unit is looking extremely sharp while Joe Gamble and Stephen Bradley have been recently complimented by the addition of David O’Leary in midfield. Striker Denis Behan has also put in some top class performances recently.

Following their second league defeat at the hands of Munster rivals Waterford United, Limerick bounced back with a two nil win over Mervue United, as well overcoming Cork City in the Munster Senior Cup final at Jackman Park.

Dominic Foley still remains sidelined, although he is expected back to training within a fortnight. Apart from that Limerick should travel to Terryland with a full squad and once they play the passing game that they are capable of, they should prevail.

Referee: Kevin O’Regan.

MATCH STATS

After ten rounds of league games Salthill are still waiting for their first win of the season.

The reverse of this fixture, back in March, resulted in a three nil win for the Blues.

Salthill managed to sneak a point late on at Jackman Park in August of last year. Had Brian Geraghty not scored that late equaliser, Limerick would have finished ahead of Monaghan United last season and sealed promotion to the Premier Division
