Cork City FC had reason to celebrate on Friday when they won the FAI Matchday Management Team of the Year award for 2011.

Fran Gavin, Airtricity League Director, presented the award to Robbie Kelleher, Cork City FC Event Controller, who collected the award on behalf of his team at the Silver Springs Moran Hotel in Cork.

Eddie Murray, FAI Stadia and Security Officer, Michael Ring, Cork City FC Chairman and Joe McGlue, FAI Chief Security Officer, were present for the presentation.

This is the fourth year of the award with the previous winners being 2008: Sporting Fingal; 2009: St Patricks Athletic and 2010: Derry City.

“Over many years Cork City have never let their guard down when it comes to Match Management," said FAI Chief Security Officer Joe McGlue.

"Event Controller Robbie Kelleher is always extremely proactive in planning and preparing for fixtures in Turners Cross. Robbie's application to the responsibility of Match Operations is excellent and he has built a good team around him.

“It was a great pleasure to recognise Robbie's efforts and indeed Cork City FC's achievement in winning this award for 2011.”
