Baraclough disappointed but positive

After drawing 1-1 with Derry City on Friday night, Sligo Rovers manager Ian Baraclough was disappointed that his side were unable to come away with all three points.
Despite his frustration, Baraclough was able to take positives from the game.
“I’m disappointed we haven’t come with three points but also positive that we’ve not been beaten in the game”, he told ExtraTime.ie. “We’re still unbeaten, we’re top of the league and that’s a night where you could easily go and get beaten, tonight. Derry are probably going home now thinking they could have won it.”
Sligo had taken the lead after 24 minutes but a penalty was awarded to the Candystripes by referee Richie Winter after Iarfhlaith Davoren was thought to have pushed Simon Madden in the box. When asked if he thought it was a penalty, the former QPR man said: “No, having seen it now. I was very disappointed at the time but you’re not quite sure until you see it again. I’m even more disappointed now. Maybe we didn’t deserve to go and win the game anyway.”
“Referees see it in different ways and they have different angles to me. They don’t have the playback and that’s the decision they have gone and made at the time, in a split second. I happen to feel it was the wrong one but I’m not going to go and criticise them.”
Defender Jason McGuinness returned from injury and had an important part to play in the game. Baraclough was happy with the Dublin man’s performance.
“It’s certainly a plus for us to have him back and the longer he can stay fit and the more he can build up his fitness. It’s been difficult for him, not being able to train and then going in to a game like that. I think he went and coped with it very well.”
Sligo Rovers were also boosted by Mark Quigley’s return from suspension and will now have Pascal Millien available after he secured his visa. The competition for spots in the team pleases Baraclough.
“Mark got 15 or 20 minutes, again he’ll need to build up his sharpness. He’ll be a good addition to the squad. Pascal Millien’s now in the club, came through today so there’s more bodies and more competition for places, which is important.”
