Some of Irish football's biggest names will come to Dublin next month to honour one of the greatest Bohemians players ever in a testimonial match for Gypsies legend Kevin Hunt.

The English-born midfielder has recently retired from playing after a ten-year spell at Bohemians, during which he captained the club to two league titles and made 20 appearances in European competition.

Current and former international players have promised to come to Dublin to play in Kevin's testimonial game at Dalymount Park on Sunday October 12th (3pm), when a Bohemians XI will take on a team of international stars, managed by ex-Ireland coach Eoin Hand.

Former Republic of Ireland captains Packie Bonner, Paul McGrath, Steve Staunton and Kenny Cunningham have all promised to pull on their boots and play for the International side. Jeff Kenna, Mark Kinsella, Liam O’Brien, David Kelly, Alan Moore and Richard Sadlier have also given a commitment to attend and help pay tribute to Hunt. Eoin Hand, Ireland manager from 1980-1985, will select the International XI team and more big-name players will be added to the squad closer to kick-off.

Current Leeds United manager and former Scotland international Gary McAllister has also promised to make an appearance in the game as part of the International XI. Celtic and Northern Ireland legend Neil Lennon will also pull on his boots and play at Dalymount.

Some players from the present Bohemians squad will play in the Gypsies selection, along with heroes from their double-winning side of 2000/01 such as Dave Morrison, Paul Byrne and of course Kevin Hunt himself, while current Bohs boss Pat Fenlon plans to come out of retirement and play on the day.

Former Bohs stars Dominic Foley (now Gent) and Stephen Ward (now Wolves), who played with Hunt for the Gypsies, have also said they will come to Dublin and play, club duties permitting.

Ticketing details, and further additions to the match-day squads, will be announced later.

The match is part of Kevin Hunt's testimonial season which also includes a golf classic in Hollystown Golf Club, Dublin (Monday September 22nd) and a testimonial dinner in Dublin towards the end of the current eircom League of Ireland season.

Kevin Hunt made his debut for Bohemians against Cork City in December 1998 and made 282 league appearances for the Dublin club before he decided to retire in July of this year.
