Good evening from Terryland Park. We will be providing in depth coverage of tonight's action here in Galway as the home side welcome Bohemians.

  • 6.50 pm....Welcome to a calm, sun drenched evening here in the West. Alan Keane, a long term injury absentee for Galway, is jogging lightly around the pitch while both sets of goalkeepers go through their warm-up routines.
  • TEAM NEWS: Jeff Kenna will move to centre half in John Lester's enforced absence, while both Alan Murphy and Iarflaith Davoren return after being cup-tied last week. In what looks like a 4-5-1 formation, Jesper Jorgensen will start alone up front, with Derek Glynn on the subs' bench.
  • TEAM NEWS: Anto Murphy steps in for Conor Powell at the back for Bohemians who drop Jason Byrne to the bench alongside Neale Fenn. Ex-Galway midfielder Gary Deegan starts alongside Stephen O'Donnell. Glen Crowe and Mindaugas Kalonas lead the line for the Gypsies.
  • 7.26 pm Duke Special is blaring out through the Terryland speakers at the moment. Both these clubs could be said to be Freewheelin, but in obviously different directions. Can the form book be overturned tonight?
  • Ten minutes to kick off here....the sun has just gone in but there will be no repeat of the monsoon conditions of last weekend.
  • Teams just out on the pitch now. Off the pitch, there is an increased garda presence here for tonight's visitors.
  • 7.46 pm GAME UNDERWAY. Richie Winters in charge.
  • Cries of "Murphy for Ireland" can be heard from the away section can be heard as their highly-rated keeper prepares to take a free-kick. He promptly slips while taking it.
  • Kalonas is dropping into space between midfield and defence and causing problems for the home side. He is first to threaten the goal with a powerful drive that flies a foot wide.
  • 7' GOAL FOR BOHEMIANS - Gary Deegan finishes cooly from six yards following good work from John Paul Kelly on the right flank, who ghosted past Marc McCulloch. Way too easy for the league leaders...
  • Chants have now turned to "This is the best trip..I've ever been on" from the Bohs faithful. Unfortunately it's a tune that has been sung all too often by away fans at Terryland this season.
  • 10' Anto Murphy booked.
  • 13' Glen Crowe is denied a clear run on goal by a suspiciously late flag. As bad as the early concession was for Galway, a second this early would be curtains.
  • Since the goal, John Russell has pushed further forward and both wingers have pushed right up on top of Rossiter and Murphy. It has had a positive effect but still no sight on goal for the home side.
  • 21' First corner for the home side.....and of the match.
  • A clean take by Brian Murphy will do his confidence no harm.
  • 23' Loud claims for a penalty, mostly from the crowd, as Davoren tumbles under pressure but Winter is having none of it.
  • Galway have responded well to the early setback and have had the majority of possession since, without overly troubling the league leaders.
  • 26' And with that Bohs breach the Galway defence again with relative ease and Kalonas badly scuffs a left foot shot wide when a goal seemed inevitable.
  • 28' From Galway's third corner, Jesper Jorgensen has a chance to shoot from the edge of the six yard box but swings and misses. Bohs break at pace and Marc McCulloch has to be sharp to get back to deny Crowe.
  • 30' Crowe has a clear sight on goal from the corner of the area but opts for a lob which drops harmlessly into Gary Rogers arms.
  • 31' Ciaran Foley is urged to lay off on the edge of the area, but instead plays a deft ball over the top for Jorgensen. The Dane waits agonisingly for the ball to drop, and when he does shoot , again appeals are made for a peno as Heary seems to block the effort with his hand.
  • 34' At the other end, Seamus Conneely makes a tremendous tackle to deny Kalonas another strike on goal. A second goal would have been undeserved and the right full made sure the margin stayed at one.
  • 36' Davoren has gone off with blood pouring from his nose after Jorgensen's attempted overhead kick failed to make contact with its intended target, catching the winger with his right boot instead.
  • Davoren is back on again.....the linesman on the new stand side is taking buckets of abuse from the crowd for perceived injustices with regards to the offside law. Hardly surprising.
  • 41' GOAL FOR BOHEMIANS - Mindaugas Kalonas. Rough justice on the home side but when you gift the best team in the league clear cut chances, you are bound to get punished. Kalonas picks up Mark Rossiter's pass and holds off Fitzgerald before rifling past Rogers.
  • 43' Stephen O'Donnell booked.
  • 8.33 pm HALF TIME. Galway United 0-2 Bohemians
  • A first half typical of United's home efforts this season.....early goal against....on top without pushing home superiority....5 corners to nil tells a tale...but Bohs have had the better chances and could well be further in front but for some heroic defending.
  • 8.48 p.m. - No changes on either side as the second half kicks off.
  • The offending linesman has now been encouraged to raise his flag a similar number of times in the second half, and so far he has been kind enough in doing so.
  • SENDING OFF - Anto Murphy....A second yellow card for Murphy for what looked like dissent.
  • 54' Substitution - Liam Burns for Kalonas
  • Surely the pace and goal-poaching skills of Derek Glynn are now called for to get Galway back into this tie. The striker is warming up, but not too vigourously
  • 58' Substitution for Galway - Derek Glynn on for Russell.
  • Glynn's first involvement sees him go down in the area but cries for a penalty are weak at best. Except from the crowd of course.
  • Galway have had a man extra for ten minutes but have not yet forced Brian Murphy into action....
  • 65' Jorgensen takes the words out of my mouth with a crisp drive from the edge of the area that forces Murphy to acrobatically tip over.
  • RED CARD - Stephen O'Donnell - A hasty challenge for the midfielder who was booked for dissent in the first half.....This will surely test Bohs defensive resolve.
  • 65' Substitution - Jason Molloy on for Marc McCulloch
  • The remaining 20 minutes of this contest look set to be played in United's attacking third as the home side lay siege. Molloy is now part of a three man attack as Galway go 3-4-3. Bohs are more 4-3-1... A goal now would really get things going here.
  • 71' Jeff Kenna forces a good save from Murphy as the crowd try to will the ball in. It could be a frustrating quarter of an hour as Bohs slow everything down to snail's pace including their substitutions.
  • 72' Sub - Jason Byrne for JP Kelly
  • 75' Jason Byrne and Crowe play about 3 one-twos to weave through the Galway defence, but Byrne's effort in the area trickles left and wide.
  • Shots are flying in but they are ending up closer to the River Corrib than the back of the net. Jay O'Shea and Alan Murphy are the culprits.
  • 82' Substitution - Brendan McGill for Crowe.
  • Frustration brewing for Utd.....90% possession but no sights on goal for the three striker........Away fans in full voice....O'Shea forces another corner with a deflected shot...Molloy half volleys at Murphy at the back post but a comeback is now looking very unlikely..
  • Three minutes added time has now begun.. Galway camped in Bohs area but no joy.....
  • 9.37 p.m FULL TIME - Galway United 0-2 Bohemians.....Pat Fenlon's side now sitting pretty with a 10 point advantage at the top of the table....
