McCaffrey snaps up four
Dundalk FC have completed the signings of Dan Cunningham, Luke Danville, Robert Waters and Michael Rafter. The quartet had been training with the Lilywhites for the last number of weeks and have now put pen to paper on one-year deals.
Cunningham, a left back, joins from Mervue United is a Galway native. The 21 year-old is the twin brother of Greg who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Manchester City.
Danville is a 21 year-old defender who can play anywhere across the back four, has previously played for English side Wakefield, impressed on trial before making the move to Ireland.
Waters, a midfielder is a native of Cork, is currently a student and has previously played for Cork City, UCC and the 21 year-old was part of the Irish under-18 home based squad in 2008.
Rafter is a Tipperary native is a 19 year-old forward who has previously played for Colchester United in England and has already experienced League of Ireland having featured for Waterford United last season. As a youngster he has played with Borris/St. Kevin's Boys and St. Michael's and has also been capped at all international levels between under 15 and under 19.
The quartet bring Seán McCaffrey's squad to 18 ahead of the new season and join Peter Cherrie, Ger Hanley, Eoghan Osborne, Derek Foran, Liam Burns, Gareth Coughlan, Nathan Murphy, John Mountney, Chris Shields, Stephen McDonnell, Mark Griffin, Shane O’Neill and Gary Shanahan at Oriel Park.
With the 2012 season just over a week away, McCaffrey looks to be close to completing his squad for the season ahead. The four signings may signal the end of transfer activity, however don't be surprised to see one or two more arrive at Oriel Park before the season starts!
