Dundalk manager Seán McCaffrey feels that his side are 'looking in good shape for the league' after they beat Finn Harps 1-0 in Oriel Park on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking after the game McCaffrey also feels that pre-season has gone well after the Lilywhites clinched their fourth win in five outings.

"Today went well. It was another pre-season match which is the important thing and Finn Harps played football which suited us. There was alot of impressive performances which I was pleased with. That is our fifth pre-season match now and I think we are looking in good shape for the league. ''

The Monaghan native said that he wanted pre-season to improve fitness but was also looking at performances from players and was particularly impressed with some of his performers today.

"Really we are looking for both. Fitness is important but you want to see players playing well. Young Robert Waters was absolutely outstanding in the middle of the field today. Alot of them done very well Gary Shanahan, for only 17 years of age is a hell of a player. Good to see Griff back involved. Very good all round."

With the season rapidly approaching, McCaffrey is lining up a friendly against the Irish Colleges during the week along with the Leinster Cup game with Crumlin before finishing preparations off with a friendly against Newry City next weekend. He has been happy with the preparations so far and thinks pre-season has gone very well.

"Just Newry left, not sure when the Leinster Cup match will be fixed for but we have that and I am hoping to play the Irish Colleges during the week. I think pre-season has gone very well. I am pleased with how it's gone. Looking forward to getting going in Monaghan now."

McCaffrey also confirmed that George Smith, who had been on trial has left the club. ''George Smith has left the club. I have released him. No more players will be coming in on trial unless you can find more money for me. We are going with what we've got. There are a few players who have agreed but just have to sign. I hope to get that out of the way later on today. That'll finish the squad, unless we can sign Tevez on loan!"
