Cork City Football Club are pleased to announce that the club has reached an agreement with Northampton Town FC to sign Tadhg Purcell on loan until the end of June.

The 27 year old forward began his career with UCD, and had a brief spell with Kilkenny City before signing for Shamrock Rovers. He spent three years with Rovers before moving cross channel to play for Darlington, where he enjoyed a prolific goalscoring run. He then signed for Northampton Town in June 2010, but an injury ruled him out for the 2010-11 season. He had a further loan spell with Darlington after returning from injury, and also made a number of appearances for Northampton before agreeing to return to Ireland.

Cork City manager Tommy Dunne told CorkCityFC.net: “Tadhg will be coming in next week. Obviously we were looking to add another striker to the squad as we were a bit thin up top. He is a player who is experienced in the League of Ireland and has also played cross channel as well. He is a good finisher and he gives us another option up front, so I am pleased to have signed him.”
