The former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann will be in Dublin this weekend promoting his new book. The ex-German international midfielder will be in Eason, O'Connell Street, Dublin on Saturday 18th February at 12.30pm to sign copies of the highly anticipated, The Didi Man: My Love Affair with Liverpool.

In his book, Hamann recounts his seven seasons at Anfield where he became a cult hero, not just to the Kop's faithful, but to the international football watching public. Among the topics explored are his friendship with the ‘Cultural Attaché for Bootle', Jamie Carragher, the rising career of Steven Gerrard, and the coaches who have shaped the club’s history during the ‘noughties’. The foreigner with a scouse accent, Didi has embraced Liverpool whole heartedly – the club, the city and its people.

Of course, his stints with Newcastle, Bolton, Manchester City and Milton Keynes Dons are not ignored. Indeed, Hamann gives great insight into his time playing football in England, as well as his opinions on his early career at Bayern Munich under current Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni, who he credits as a huge influence on his career.
