Blues add two for promotion push
Waterford United have added two more players to the squad for their promotion push this season.
Manager Paul O'Brien has secured the signing of goalkeeper Robert Hughes from Shamrock Rovers and has re-signed defender Paul Carey.
Carey becomes the fifth player to re-sign for the club and will hope to nail down a starting place this season in the Blues defence.
Hughes, 20, joins the club having played for Shamrock Rovers 'A' Championship last year but with Alan Mannus, Ryan Thompson and Richard Brush all members of the first team, the Kildare native wasn't required for first team action.
Hughes will look to take the number one spot for the new season after the departure of last season's keeper Kevin Burns to Cork City. The two signings bring the Waterford United squad to 17 for the new season.
One player that has departed the Blues' squad from last season is Brian Nolan. The 20-year-old midfielder has joined south-east neighbours Wexford Youths.
