Bohemians confirm 18 signings

Bohemians have confirmed no fewer than eighteen players who will represent them in the forthcoming season. While there is a certain emphasis on youth, there is a lot of quality in the players who have agreed terms with the Phibsborough club.

Following well publicised financial constraints, Bohemians have signed up the majority of their squad on what one would perceive as a shoe string budget ahead of the 2012 season, allowing much needed cash savings to be made. Aaron Callaghan has not strayed away from the challenge however, and has signed, in bulk, a group of competitive footballers.

Goalkeeping duties so far will fall to youngster Craig Sexton, who has re-signed with the club from last season as he looks to continue his experience in the League of Ireland.

In front of Sexton stands an array of defensive options. These include veteran Dave Rogers who spent last season with Drogheda United, Neil Harney; a young full back arriving from Inchicore based rivals St. Patrick's Athletic and signing Danny Joyce from Reading, who makes his second trip across the Irish Sea to join up with Bohs once more.

Callaghan has also secured the signatures of Derek Pender and Evan McMillan from the Saints. Youngster Kevin Feely has also resigned with the club, completing the defensive side of Callaghan’s recruits.

Eight midfielders will compete for the spaces in the middle of the park. Karl Moore, who had an unsuccessful stint at fierce rivals Shamrock Rovers has agreed terms, as well as former Monaghan United player David Scully. Keith Ward has signed from Dundalk, while Dwayne Wilson arrives from the south-east, having departed Waterford United.

Bohemians also confirmed the re-signings of Keith Buckley, Ryan McEvoy and Lee Dixon to ensure options were available in midfield. Stephen Traynor tops off the midfield list, as he has been re-signed by the club after impressing last season.

The firepower will come via the boots of Dinny Corcoran, who signs from Drogheda United. He will be assisted in goalscoring duties by Sean Stewart and John O’Connor who were both previously at St. Patricks Athletic.

Aaron Callaghan’s backroom staff for the 2012 season will consist of Terry Butler, Fred Davis and Stephen Weafer who will take the roles of first team coach, goalkeeping coach and physio respectively.
