Waterford United have added two more players as manager Paul O’Brien looks to finalise his squad for the 2012 First Division season.

The club have confirmed the signing of defender Peter White and the re-signing of the versatile Seamus Long.

White, 25, joins the Blues from Limerick having played with Wexford Youths previously, as well as a previous spell in Jackman Park.

He made 29 League appearances in his first season back at Limerick along with 16 appearances last time out as competition for places intensified. The Tipperary man can play at centre-half, and can also fill in at full back or in midfield if needed also.

The club also announced the re-signing of defender Seamus Long. “Shammy” has been at the RSC since January of 2009, having signed under Stephen Henderson from Douglas Hall. He had spent time at Shamrock Rovers in their promotion season of 2006, and UCD, where he twice won U21 League honours.

The Belfast man’s versatility should be a huge asset to the Blues again next season. Long played in both full back positions, in the centre of defence and as a defensive midfielder last season.
