Dundalk sign defensive duo

Dundalk FC have bolstered their squad with the signings of defensive pair Eoghan Osborne and Derek Foran.

Osborne re-signs for the 2012 season having spent the 2011 season at Oriel, however he only featured in three games before his season was ended by a fractured tibia he suffered in training in March. The left- back, who joined from Drogheda United, will be hoping to have an injury free season and become a key member of the first team.

Foran joins from FAI Cup winners Sligo Rovers. After spending two seasons at the Showgrounds, the 22-year-old central defender has decided to leave due to limited opportunities. The former Bray Wanderers player will be hoping he can be a regular at Oriel Park and get back to playing his best football again.

The signings bring Sean McCaffreys squad to eight. They join midfielders Stephen McDonnell, Chris Shields and Nathan Murphy, and forward trio Mark Griffin, Shane O’Neill and Gary Shanahan. With pre-season starting next week, more signings are expected over the coming days.
