O'Neill signs new Cork City deal
Following the signing of Clark Keltie earlier in the day, Cork City have announced that Davin O’Neill has signed a new contract with the club for the 2012 season.
O’Neill played 25 times last season for City as they claimed the First Division title, and is looking forward to the new season. “I’ve played with Cork City in the Premier Division in the past and I am delighted to have the opportunity to do so again.”
“I think we are well capable of holding our own in the Premier Division. We will be playing in better grounds against better opposition every week in front of bigger crowds, and all of the players will enjoy that.”
City boss Tommy Dunne was also pleased to get O’Neill on board for the new season after the striker impressed in 2011. "Davin had a very good season last season, probably one of the better seasons that he has had in his career. He is at a really good age, he has experience and we’re hoping that the best is yet to come from him.”
“He can play in a number of positions, so he is a good addition to the team and I am very glad that he has signed back. As a club, we did well last year, but we are looking to push on again this year, and Davin will be an integral part of that.”
