Sean McCaffrey has today been appointed the new manager of Dundalk. The former Irish underage boss has signed a one year deal which will see him in control for the entire 2012 season.

McCaffrey has already begun business in the transfer market, with his first new signing being unveiled tonight at a meet and greet session which gets underway at 7.30pm in Reilly’s Bar in the Youth Development Centre at Oriel Park.

McCaffrey will bring a wealth of experience to the Lillywhites from national underage involvement aswell as a lot of contacts gained along the way.

He will be assisted by Darius Kierans who will remain at Oriel Park as a number two despite the departure of Ian Foster. The thirty-two year old’s presence will give Dundalk a sense of continuity for the coming season.

Rounding off his three man team is John Whyte who won an FAI Cup with Dundalk in 2002. The fullback has been involved in underage setups with Dundalk for the last few months and is not stepping up to help McCaffrey with first team duties.
