Kenny set for Rovers switch?

BBC Radio Foyle have announced that Derry City manager, Stephen Kenny, is in talks with Shamrock Rovers about the managerial post vacated by Michael O’Neill last week.

Kenny has a long and distinguished career in League of Ireland management having cut his teeth with Longford Town who he joined in the summer of 1998, leading the club to promotion in his second year in charge.

Kenny also spent three years at Bohemians, winning the league title with the Gypsies in 2003, but it is with Derry City that he is most closely associated.

He arrived at the Brandywell in the summer of 2004 and, apart from a season long hiatus when he managed Dunfermline Athletic in Scotland, Kenny has led the Candystripes since then, wining four League Cups, one FAI Cup and a First Division league title.

Speculation regarding Kenny’s appointment as Shamrock Rovers’ new manager has intensified in recent days although neither club has yet made any official statement on the matter.
