Waterford United confirm Frost signing
Waterford United have confirmed the signing of John Frost from Limerick FC.
The left back, a Waterford native and former Blues captain who spent the first eight years of his career at the RSC, returns after a six-and-a-half year absence. He joined St Patrick's Athletic from United in the summer of 2005 for a successful three year spell which included an FAI Cup final appearance.
Frost bettered that with Sporting Fingal, winning the Cup and gaining promotion to the Premier Division in 2009. Last year he was a key part of Limerick's excellent season that just fell short of the play-off places.
The 31-year-old will bring a wealth of League experience to the young Blues squad, complementing an all-action style and a never-say-die attitude that will significantly strengthen United's backline for the coming campaign.
"John is a great acquisition for the club", said Paul O'Brien, himself recently confirmed as Blues manager ahead of the new season. "His professionalism and attitude are top class, and he is an all-round exceptional pro footballer. We are delighted to have him on board."
Frost is the sixth confirmed name on United's squad list for the new season, joining Paul Phelan, Jack Doherty, Adam McSherry, Sean Maguire and Willie John Kiely who had all previously been signed to the end of 2012. O'Brien is currently in the process of re-signing many of last season's players, as well as seeking to add new faces to the panel.
