Airtricity sponsor the U19 League

The Football Association of Ireland has reached agreement with Airtricity to become title sponsor of the Under 19 League.
 

The Airtricity Under 19 League is in its first season and is an important part of the player pathway for the development of young elite players, giving them an opportunity to grow their game with the benefit of coaching, facilities and competition at top clubs.


In its inaugural season, Cork City have played ten matches and are two points clear of Waterford United with a game in hand in the Airtricity Under 19 League Elite Division. In the Northern Division, Derry City are three points clear of Dundalk and Finn Harps and in the Southern Division, Limerick FC are four points clear of Cobh Ramblers after nine games.

Welcoming the sponsorship, Fran Gavin, Director of the Airtricity League said,

Republic of Ireland Under 19 Head Coach, Paul Doolin said,




“To be competitive internationally, it is important that young elite players who stay in Ireland get regular competitive football at a high level. The Airtricity Under 19 League has filled that gap and is giving many elite players a vital opportunity to progress their career in Ireland at an important stage in their development.”
