THE German Football Federation has confirmed that their 2014 World Cup qualifying game against the Republic of Ireland will be played in the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne on October 11th 2013.

The DFB announced the venues for all of Germany's home qualifiers for the World Cup qualifiers today in Berlin and made the confirmation that the game with Ireland - the penultimate game in the group - will be in Cologne.

Germany - who Ireland have avoided at Euro 2012, begin World Cup qualification against the Faroe Islands in Hannover on September 7th next year before Sweden is hosted in Berlin on October 16th.

In 2013, Nuremberg will host the qualifier against Kazakhstan on March 26th, while Austria will visit Munich on September 6th before Ireland play in Cologne on October 11.

Germany qualified for the 2012 European Championship with 10 wins from 10 games. Ireland have also been drawn against Sweden, Austria, Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan in the 2014 World Cup group.

This week, Giovanni Trapattoni's contract was extended to take in that campaign - which begins with a long away trip to Kazakhstan next September.
