Cork City have announced the signings of Daryl Horgan and Cathal Lordan for the 2012 Premier Division campaign. Horgan joins from Sligo Rovers on a two-year deal while Lordan re-signs having joined midway through last season.

Horgan joined on loan from Sligo in July, making his debut against his former club Salthill Devon at Turner’s Cross. He scored seven league goals in thirteen appearances.  “I’m delighted to have signed. I really enjoyed my time with Cork City last season, and I’m looking forward to pushing on next season”, Horgan said.

"There is a step-up in the level in the Premier Division, but from what I saw of both divisions last season, I believe that the top five teams in the First Division would be well capable of competing in the Premier. I really enjoyed working with Tommy last season, we had a brilliant end to the season and I hope we can continue that into next season.”

Lordan returned to the City squad towards the end of last season after recovering from a knee injury, making three league appearances. “I came back into the squad towards the end of last season and I was happy to have got my foot in the door before the season ended”, 24-year-old Lordan said. “Next season is a big challenge for me to try and cement a place in the team and I’m looking forward to that."

"While it was a couple of years ago, I do have some experience of playing in the Premier Division. It will be a challenge for us, but I think a lot of the lads know what is ahead of us, and I think everyone is looking forward to it.”

Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said: “Cathal did really well to come back from what was a horrific injury, and it is a testament to his dedication and his application that he fought his way back into the squad last season. He was beginning to come strong towards the end of the season, and hopefully now with a good pre-season under his belt he will be competing for a place in the team. He is another young, talented player and we are very happy to have signed him.”

“It’s no secret that we have wanted to sign Daryl for quite some time now”, Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said. “We wanted to sign him from Salthill, before Sligo signed him, but we are delighted now to have signed him and have him on board. While his experience of Premier Division last season was quite brief, he does have Premier Division experience and that will benefit him.”
