International stars Johnny Logan and Ardal O’Hanlon will headline the Big Bohs Gig at Vicar Street next Sunday (27th November).

Logan will be making one of his rare appearances in Ireland when he performs at this benefit gig for Bohemian Football Club. He will also be a guest on the Saturday Night Show on RTE1 at the weekend.

Johnny Logan will start a seven-date tour of Denmark days after the Vicar St gig, having played 17 dates in Sweden during October.  His 1987 Eurovision song, Hold Me Now, has been adopted as the Bohemian anthem and he is a life member of the club.

Ardal O’Hanlon is part of a strong comedy programme at the Big Bohs Gig. He toured in Australia earlier this year and has recently appeared around Ireland.

A keen football fan, O’Hanlon wrote and presented an RTE series, Leagues Apart, in 2006 on famous football club rivalries.

Life-long Bohemian fan Eric Lalor organised the comedy programme for the gig as a “labour of love”.

A recent débutant at the Edinburgh Festival, Lalor has performed at venues in major cities in England and Scotland. He also has parts in a current and a forthcoming TV drama series.

“I’ve been a Bohs fan all my life, as my dad was. The club has a special place in my heart and always will,” Lalor said.

“It’s sad times that we’re in now, with people saying that we’re going out of business. I’ll do anything I can to help.”

Lalor proudly wore a Bohs jersey when he appeared at the first Big Bohs Gig last February. He takes his nine-year-old son to Bohemian matches just as his father took him to Dalymount Park when he was a child.

Other comedians on the bill are John Colleary and Colm O’Regan, both of whom are very active on the comedy scene in Ireland.

Irish rock legend Brush Shiels – himself a former footballer with two appearances for Bohemians to his name – soul band Special Brew and at least one surprise guest add to the musical programme.

The gig will be hosted by Martin King (TV3) and world champion boxer Bernard Dunne.

The first Big Bohs Gig last February packed the Olympia Theatre and was enthusiastically received by club supporters and many others.

Tickets for Sunday’s event are available at €25 from ticketmaster.ie and Ticketmaster outlets and from the Bohemian FC office (day-time) and Members’ Bar (evenings) at Dalymount Park, Phibsborough, Dublin 7
