Gorman signs for Peamount United

Newly-capped Irish international Dora Gorman has signed for Peamount United ahead of the start of the Bus Eireann women's national league this weekend.

Gorman, who previously played with Salthill Devon, was one of the stars of the Irish team at the under-17 World Cup- captaining the side to a quarter-final. The midfielder made her senior international debut last month in the win over Israel in Tallaght stadium and is now studying medicine in UCD.

Peamount have boosted hopes of a successful campaign with the addition of the Galway native, who could come straight into Eileen Gleeson's side for this Sunday's league opener against Cork WFC.

The fact that Peamount had so recently played in the Champions League was a big factor for Gorman, who also captained Ireland under-17s to a European Championship final. "Obviously you want to play at the highest level you can," she said. "I play with a lot of the girls at international level, so I know about the quality in the squad and I am really looking forward to starting the league season now."
