The Management Committee of Galway United Football Club have confirmed the appointment of John Brennan as first team manager of the club in a permanent capacity.

Brennan was brought in after the departure of Sean Connor from the manager's position, and despite relegation to the First Division, he has been given the job for the 2012 season.

"Johns appointment is a continuation of the rebuilding project of Galway United, as he reflects our core values of honesty, integrity and partnership with local clubs and the Galway FA, the statement read.

This appointment is another significant step as we start to plan for the coming 2012 season. Our main focus during the off-season remains team recruitment, fundraising and preparation for the licensing process.

United's new manager speaking to www.galwayunitedfc.ie, said: "It's a great challenge and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll have my own team and I can be judged on that. I'll be looking to bring in the best young talent around the City and County."
