Jonathan O’Brien has been confirmed as Cork City FC’s interim chairman after the club announced this morning that John O’Sullivan has stepped down.

The Sinn Féin TD, one of the founding members of FORAS, will hold the position until the Trusts’ AGM in early Spring, where members will elect a new chairman.

O’Sullivan had been in the position for three years before deciding to call it a day after last month’s first division title win away to Shelbourne.

“The Board would like to express their gratitude to John for his hard work over the past three years.

“We have an important few months ahead as we look forward to premier division football and we will be calling on our trustees to get involved and play their part in the coming weeks,” said O’Brien.

The club are also on the lookout for a new chief executive ahead of their return to the top flight.
