The UEFA website has announced that Brian Kerr has stepped down as manager of the Faroe Islands national team.

Kerr, 58, led the Faroes through their qualification campaign for Euro 2012 in which the small island nation managed to acquire four points, including a 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland’s play-off rivals Estonia.

In a statement today the Faroe Islands Football Association said they were saddened that it “was not possible to agree a new contract” with Kerr.
