Burns wins POTY as Murphy departs
Goalkeeper Kevin Burns picked up the Waterford United supporters club Player of the Year at the end of season night on Friday night, with the club also announcing the departure of a player.
The local keeper picked up the award after a good season despite a poor position in the First Division table having received the most number of votes from the supporters. Having started the 2010 season as second choice keeper, he soon dislodged Chris Konopka and has remained as number one keeper even since.
Meanwhile, the club has announced that Paul Murphy has left the club. The striker had parted company with the club prior to the Mervue United match last Friday night. Murphy joined the club in June 2010 having previously played for Ipswich Town.
