Fantasy Football Week 5

Captaincy in Fantasy Football is one of the major elements to a successful season. Pick the wrong one and you could spend the season telling your friends that you could have easily beaten them but for your captain amassed a soul destroying four points week in week out despite the rest of your team performing admirably. Pick the right one and your other ten players below average performances can still see you charge onwards and upwards.

I personally have a talent at picking the wrong captain. Having toyed with Aguero as my leader for Gameweek 1, I thought, no Nani will be the man (Nani got 2 points, Aguero got 15). Before the matches were over, I debated on Sliva or Sergio Aguero. Aguero was promoted, and I gave Nani a stern talking to (Aguero got 2, Silva 10). I stood firm knowing fate would not trip me up  again and Aguero remained for Gameweek 3. (He got 6 whilst almost everyone on my team got more).

I couldn't take it anymore, a stiff drink taken, I fell back on Man City's Silva. Hurrah I thought as I saw a respectable 10 points glowing below his avatar. Of course Aguero got 17 that same week. Gameweek 5 had to fare better surely. I sat staring at Nani, Aguero and Silva struggling to decide. Surely I couldn't, once again, pick the lowest scoring player. I choose Silva (5 points). Nani and Aguero got 13 each.

So my captaincy has cost me over 80 points. It's the different between sitting in the low 200's or challenging at the top of the table. So choose your captain carefully. Or just ask me who I picked and pick someone else (This week I have stuck with Silva).

Now onto the Extratime.ie League Gameweek 5. A reasonably low scoring week for the top 5, with no one breaking 55 points. Considering the best team that week received 106 points, I'm not going to analyse how our top 5 were average this week. I'll just provide you with the league table below.

Fantasy Football Week 5

This week throws up some potentially high points earning clashes. A full quota of Man City and Man United players seems to be developing into a must have. The Newcastle's defensive duo Ryan (4.6m) and Steven Taylor (4.7m) top the Defenders listings. The Midfielder and Forward top scorers lists are less surprising with Ashley Young (10.4m) and Silva (9.9m) the best midfielders, Rooney (12.5m) and Aguero (11.3m) top strikers.
