Shelbourne lodge FAI Cup appeal

After the decision by the FAI Domestic Committee to remove Sheriff YC from the FAI Ford Cup on Monday and grant Limerick a bye to the semi-finals, Shelbourne have officially lodged an appeal.

The club confirmed today that, after discussions with their legal people, an appeal against the decision has been formally lodged. The club also confirmed they would be making no more comments until the appeal has been heard.

Sheriff YC beat Shelbourne 3-2 in the previous round of the cup, however they were found to have played an ineligible player and were removed form the competition.

The brief statement in full reads:

Shelbourne FC would like to confirm that following discussions with our Legal representatives this morning , we have today lodged an appeal against the decision of the FAI Domestic Committee in the recent Sheriff YC v Shelbourne FC FAI Ford Cup game.

No other statement will be issued until after the appeal is heard.
