Ex-LOI Cross Channel - Week 2

Apologies to former Cork City forward Shane Long as I left out the fact that he scored for West Brom last week. The Tipperary man opened the scoring again this week against Chelsea but as happened last week the opposition hit back with two goals to beat the Baggies.
Kevin Doyle (ex St Pats and Cork City) and Stephen Ward (ex Bohs) both played the full match as Wolves beat Fulham 2-0 on Sunday with Doyle getting the opening goal on 42 minutes.
Championship
Roy O’Donovan (ex Cork City) played 90 minutes for Coventry City on Tuesday as they lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace, and 63 minutes on Saturday in their 0-0 draw with Watford.
Former Cork City defender Damien Delaney had a bad week as he played 180 minutes for an Ipswich team which conceded 12 goals. On Tuesday they lost 5-2 to Southampton and on Saturday they lost 7-1 to Peterborough.
Ex Shamrock Rovers and Waterford striker Noel Hunt played 90 minutes on Tuesday as Reading lost 1-0 to Portsmouth. He played another 90 minutes in another defeat this time 2-1 against Barnsley on Saturday. Hunt’s side were awarded three penalties in this game, the Waterford man missed the second spot kick and was taken down for the third, the only one his team scored.
David Forde (ex Galway and Derry) ‘keeper played 90 minutes in Millwall's 2-2 draw with Peterborough on Wednesday night.
Former UCD midfielder Gary Dicker played 90 minutes for Brighton on Wednesday as they won 3-1 away at Cardiff and he also played 81 minutes of their 2-2 draw at home to Blackpool.
Former St Pats and Drogheda midfielder Keith Fahey played the full game for Birmingham as they were beaten 3-1 by Middlesboro.
League 1
Both Jonathan Douglas (ex Monaghan) and Niall McGinn (ex Derry) were involved in the goals as Brentford beat Exeter 2-1 on Tuesday. Douglas’ free kick was deflected into his own net by Exeter midfielder James Dunne to open the scoring and a McGinn cross set up for Clayton Donaldson to score the winning goal. Both players also played in the Bees 5-0 win over Leyton Orient on Saturday, with McGinn scoring the opening gaol after 6 minutes. Former Shamrock Rovers, Longford and Cork City striker Dave Mooney played for Orient in this game. Mooney also played in his sides 3-1 defeat by Wycombe on Tuesday coming on as a 58th minute substitute.
Ex Sporting Fingal player Shaun Williams played 90 in his more familiar position of midfield in MK Dons 1-0 win at Yeovil on Tuesday. Williams played 66 minutes of his sides 6-2 win against Chesterfield on Saturday. Former Bray and Galway winger Jay O’Shea completed the scoring for the Dons with an 86th minute penalty after coming on with 13 minutes to go.
Former St Pat’s midfielder Stephen Quinn played the full game in Sheffield United’s 3-2 win against Walsall on Tuesday and he also played in United’s 1-1 draw with Tranmere on Saturday. Ex Derry City defender Mark McChrystal played for Tranmere in this match and he also played in their 3-2 defeat to Notts County on Tuesday.
League 2
Kevin Long (ex Cork City) played for Accrington Stanley in their 1-0 win against Bradford on Tuesday night and also in their 4-1 defeat against Port Vale on Saturday.
Cheltenham captain and ex Cork City centre back Alan Bennett played in his sides 2-1 defeat against Morecambe on Tuesday and their 3-2 victory away at Northampton on Saturday.
Dan Connor the ex St Pats, Cork City, Drogheda and Waterford United ‘keeper played 90 minutes in his sides 1-1 draw with AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
Ex Bray defender Graham Coughlan played just over an hour of Southend’s 3-0 defeat to Crawley town on Tuesday, and he came on with two minutes left in their 1-0 defeat to Burton Albion on Saturday.

Paddy McCourt the ex Shamrock Rovers and Derry City winger came off the bench twice last week for Celtic. On Thursday he came on for the last seven minutes against Sion in the Europa League and on Sunday he played the last half hour in the Bhoys 1-0 home defeat to St Johnstone.
Former Shelbourne and Longford defender Sean Dillon played 90 minutes for Dundee United in their 1-1 draw against St Mirren.
Another Shelbourne old boy Richie Foran played the full 90 for Inverness Caledonian Thistle against Aberdeen on Saturday. Foran scored with eleven minutes left, giving his side hope of a draw, but Aberdeen held out for a 2-1 win.
Scottish League Division 1
Former Derry City and Shamrock Rovers striker Thomas Stewart faced former Shelbourne, Waterford, Shamrock Rovers and Drogheda man James Chambers on Saturday as Stewart’s Partick Thistle side hosted Chambers’ Hamilton Academicals. The sides drew 1-1 with both ex LOI men being substituted, Stewart lasted an hour, while Chambers was withdrawn after 72 minutes.
