FAI call on fans to support Drogheda
Drogheda United take on Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League in Dalymount Park on Tuesday night and supporters are being urged to turn out in large numbers to support the eircom League of Ireland champions.
Having seen off Levadia Tallinn of Estonia in the First Qualifying Round, Drogheda United now face Dynamo Kiev with a place in the Third Qualifying Round up for grabs.
Noel Mooney, head of eircom League of Ireland promotions, said that this is an ideal opportunity for Irish football fans to come out and help cheer on an Irish side in the Champions League.
“One of the key benefits of switching to the summer season has been our improved results in Europe”, said Mooney. “Tuesday’s match against Dynamo Kiev is a big game for Irish football and it would be great to see supporters from all our clubs coming to Dalymount Park to help cheer on Drogheda United. Let’s pack out Dalymount Park and give this game the atmosphere it deserves!”
While Drogheda United compete in the UEFA Champions League, Cork City and St. Patrick’s Athletic both play in the UEFA Cup on Thursday. JFK Olimps of Latvia travel to Richmond Park to take on St. Patrick’s Athletic, with the Saints holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg. St. Patrick’s Athletic have reduced ticket prices to €10 for the match.
Meanwhile, Cork City travel to Finland to play FC Haka in the second leg of their UEFA Cup fixture, with the tie level at 2-2 from the first leg.
