Peamount United produced a tremendous performance to beat home side
ZNK Krka 7-0 in their Women's Champions League meeting this evening.
Stephanie Roche opened the scoring for Peas after 18 minutes and doubled her own tally on 33 minutes. Just before her second goal Sara Lawlor scored the first of her brace- with the second coming after 78 minutes.
The star player on the day for Peamount could well have been captain Louise Quinn. She scored eight minutes before the half-time break- in what turned out to be the first goal of her hat-trick.
Peamount never let up on their opposition after half-time, with Quinn's second and third goals- on 52 and 65 minutes- bringing the score to 6-0.
Sara Lawlor's 78th-minute goal brought the score to 7-0, on a day when Rayo Vallecano secured their progression from the group.
Krka lost their first match to Finnish side Parnu- who lost to Rayo Vallecano today- meaning that Peamount have a good chance of progressing from the group stage. Peas will meet Parnu in their final group stage match on Tuesday with a place in the Champions League Round of 32 at stake.
