League leaders Sligo Rovers will be hoping to keep their position at the top of the Airtricity Premier Division when they face Bohemians at The Showgrounds on Saturday evening. (Kick-off 7.45pm)

These sides played out a scoreless draw in Dalymount Park the last time they met. Both sides finished with ten men after a fiery opening 20 minutes and neither were able to force the winner. Obviously, football is a game of two halves but the first time Sligo and Bohs met this season both halves were a completely different kettle of fish.

Sligo completely dominated the first half and Eoin Doyle fired them ahead on 13 minutes but Pat Fenlon sent his men out fired up in the second half and they then dominated play. The Gypsies took the victory thanks to two goals within seven minutes of each other scored by Stephen Traynor and Anto Flood.

Sligo Rovers left Oriel Park on Sunday feeling unlucky after a 93rd minute penalty from Mark Quigley cancelled out Raffaele Cretaro’s 88th minute strike. Bohs were beaten last Friday by champions Shamrock Rovers and now lie ten points behind opponents Sligo.

The Bit O’ Red will be without the ever consistent Alan Keane as he recovers from a grade one tear in his thigh. Danny Ventre is also missing through suspension after he was sent off against Dundalk but Jason McGuinness returns from suspension. Manager Paul Cook says his team have to get back to winning ways to have any chance of winning the league: “We want to win the league and to do that you have to win games. Bohemians will be a tough game but we have to start winning matches again. We’ve had a couple of days off and we hope to come back fresh”.

The strong strike force of Anto Flood and Stephen Traynor will be missing for Bohs due to injury and Chris O’Connor is still missing as a result of the facial injury he picked up against Sligo in May. Fenlon will be scratching his head over whether to play Christy Fagan on his own up front or to pair him with Aidan Downes who was lively against Shamrock Rovers last week.
