First Division Team of the Week #4

Wins for Cork City, Limerick, Finn Harps and Monaghan United this week see a number of their players being included in the Team of the Week.

Ciaran Gallagher and Keith Cowan reflect Finn Harps resolute defensive performance, while their team mate Aaron McElwee was in charge of their creative flair.

The only player included who didn’t see his side run out victorious this weekend is Declan Fallon and despite Athlone’s loss, they did very well against Mons and were unlucky not to have secured a point. In the same game, Monaghan can credit their win to the tireless efforts of midfield dynamo Eric Foley.

Limerick had two players included this week after they ended their run of eight straight defeats in the RSC. Denis Behan had two fantastic finishes to secure his side the win, while new recruit Shaun Kelly provided a masterclass both defensively and on the overlap. Paul Phelan did all he could to get something from the game for his side, but in the end, Limerick were too strong.

Without doubt, the biggest result of the weekend belonged to Cork City. They had three inclusions from their 4-1 victory over league leaders Shelbourne. Danny Murphy, Daryl Horgan and Davin O’Neill were all instrumental in securing the Leesiders biggest win of the season.
