RTE to show Hoops CL home game

RTÉ Sport has confirmed today it will broadcast live coverage of the Champions League third qualifying round home fixture between Shamrock Rovers and FC Copenhagen on Tuesday 2nd August.

The second leg tie will see the Hoops play host to the Danish side with presenter Peter Collins joined live in Tallaght Stadium by Liam Brady and Tony McDonnell. The game kicks off at 7.45pm with commentary from George Hamilton and Damien Richardson.

Champions League Qualifier live on RTÉ Two and RTÉ.ie (IOI) with coverage beginning at 7.30pm

This will be the first game shown by the National Broadcaster of League of Ireland teams in Europe this season. In the previous round, Setanta Sports showed Shamrock Rovers away leg match against Flora Tallinn. So far, no Europa League games have been televised. St. Patrick's Athletic have progressed through two rounds of the competition, whilst Bohemians were eliminated in the second round. Sligo Rovers will begin their European adventure against Vorksla Poltava on Thursday 28th.
