Sligo Supporters Groups rally behind club

Every Sligo Rovers supporters group have given their backing to a motion to not use season tickets for the upcoming Premier Division match with St Patrick’s Athletic to help the club in their ventures this season.

The Bit o’ Red Supporters Trust, The Dublin Supporters Club, The South Sligo Supporters Club and Forza Rovers have combined to reach an agreement and encourage all members to leave their season tickets at home on Saturday to help the club.

Sligo Rovers are likely to face a trip to Ukraine later this month in the Europa League, a significant five-figure bill for upgrading the Showgrounds for the home game in the competition and Paul Cook is still hoping to add to his squad to help our Premier Division title challenge.

In a joint statement, the groups said: “We want to try and help the Management Committee in the coming weeks and give the club the best possible chance of success.

“As supporters we understand the huge effort that is needed in the coming weeks. These are difficult times financially for everyone and there is no obligation for season-ticket holders to pay into the game.

“But to anyone that can, we encourage you to support this motion. The major ground improvement for the Europa League game is a credit to the Committee and likewise for the efforts of Paul Cook and his players on the pitch and this is our way of showing our appreciation.”
