Two more depart Waterford Utd squad

Waterford United have confirmed the departures of midfielder Shane Dempsey and defender Lee Chin.

The club confirmed that Shane Dempsey was released on Friday night having asked to be released from his contract. Dempsey was a key member of the Wexford Youths squad in 2010 and contributing an impressive nine league goals throughout the season before signing for The Blues for the 2011 season. Dempsey started just four games this season and was used as a substitute seven times. He is expecting to rejoin south-east neighbours Wexford Youths.

Chin was part of the successful winning Wexford Oscar Traynor team that beat Waterford on penalties in the Oscar Traynor Cup in February 2011 and signed for Waterford United for the 2011 First Division season. Chin’s departure is expected to be announced on Monday having also asked to be released having made just five appearances.



The club statement read:Waterford United and Shane Dempsey have last night parted company, with the midfielder’s contract terminated by mutual consent All at the Blues wish Shane every success in his future career, and thank him for his contributions to the Blues cause throughout the season

Dempsey and Chin’s departures bring to six the number of players released by the club this season, joining Michael Rafter, Keith Quinn, Josh Byrne and Shane Barrett.
