Ian Ryan and Gareth Matthews solidified Shels position at the top of the league, while Dean Delany made sure Waterford were to be denied any late equaliser with some excellent goalkeeping.

Conor Sinnott was the creative dynamo in the middle of the park for Waterford while Man of the Match Brendan McGill truly ran the show on Friday night.

Keith Cowan shone above all his team mates for Finn Harps. The centre half was the reason Harps stayed in the game until the bitter end, despite them conceding three goals. He also grabbed the opener in the tie. A very solid performance from the defender.

Danny Murphy was the stand out player down at Turners Cross, providing excellent width to the game and creating a big threat out wide on the overlap. This seemed to make up for the poor finishing on display in Cork.

Mark Salmon excelled in the game between Longford Town and Finn Harps, despite being dismissed late into stoppage time. He did manage to pick up two goals however, securing his spot next to Sinnott in the middle of the park.

Dean Broaders was part of an improving Wexford side who were so unlucky not to take points from their clash against Monaghan United. Broaders scored the Youths goal in the encounter aswell as threatening throughout.

Being a striker is all about goals, and Noel McGee, like midfield Salmon, grabbed a brace. His side came from behind to grab a much deserved victory in a tale of two halves against Mervue.
The final ingredient into this week's XI is Longford Town's Don Cowan. His electric pace, good attitude, steely determination and excellent finishing ability were once again on show this weekend; scoring a goal in the process.
