Sligo Rovers winger Daryl Horgan has joined Cork City on loan until the end of the season.

Horgan joined Sligo at the start of the season and has made several appearances in the Rovers first-team. Boss Paul Cook believes the move will benefit Horgan and is an opportunity to gain regular experience in a starting XI.

"Daryl has done very well since he came the club. This move will be of great benefit to him and I'm sure he'll relish the opportunity”, Cook said. “He is on a contract with us until the end of 2012 so he'll come back to The Showgrounds with more games under his belt and more experience.

Commenting on the signing, City boss Tommy Dunne said: “Daryl is a player we have been looking at for a while. He did well for Salthill last season and he impressed me any time I saw him. I spoke to him prior to the season with a view to signing him at that point, but he opted to sign for Sligo."

"He is keen to get more game time, so I am delighted to be able to bring him in at this point, and I would like to thank (Sligo manager) Paul Cook for his assistance in arranging the deal. Daryl’s main position is wide on the right side of midfield, but he can play on either flank, so he will complement the wide players we already have and will strengthen our squad.”
