Phelan completes Waterford United deal
Waterford United have completed the signing of midfielder Paul Phelan from New Ross Celtic.
The 26-year-old faced his new club just weeks ago when they met in a 3rd round FAI Ford Cup meeting, with the winger putting in an impressive showing.
Phelan’s New Ross Side finished runners-up by a single point in the Wexford League Premier Division, while also reaching the semi-finals of the FAI Junior Cup, only losing out in extra time to St Michael’s.
Paul, who goes into the squad for Friday’s tie against Shelbourne, was capped for the Republic of Ireland Amateur side against Northern Ireland in 2009, and has won multiple Wexford League and Cup medals in his time at Celtic.
Phelan is another addition to the squad following the signings of young striker Sean Maguire, winger Paul Walsh and attacker Adam McSherry.
