Villarreal heading for Belfield Bowl
UCD AFC have announced that they will be facing both St. Johnstone F.C and Champions League Qualifiers Villarreal in summer friendlies.
The students will play the Scottish Premier League side St. Johnstone F.C this Sunday, 10th of July at the UCD Bowl (Kick-Off 3pm). The second friendly, against Spanish side Villarreal, will take place on the 16th of July at the UCD Bowl (Kick-Off 7pm).
UCD manager Martin Russell is delighted that two teams of such high calibre will be taking on his team: "We are obviously delighted that both St.Johnstone FC and Villarreal have agreed to fixtures as part of their pre-season preparations and our boys are excited at the prospect of the tough challenge of playing against full-time professionals that regularly compete with some of the best sides in the world. The team will be looking to learn from these sides about the demands of full-time professional football while sticking to our principles of playing attractive football."
Both fixtures are pre-season friendlies for the visiting teams but UCD will take this opportunity to play to their full potential against full time professionals who play football at extremely high levels. Although it has so far been a difficult season for the Students, they have received many plaudits for their dedication to attractive football.
