FINN Harps Football Club are on the hunt for the spectator who threw a bottle at the match referee on Friday night and the Club have confirmed that a lifetime ban will be imposed should the culprit be identified.

As Richie Winter left the pitch, a bottle was thrown from a group of supporters who had gathered in the area beneath the clubhouse window.

Yesterday afternoon a club spokesperson condemned the incident that is sure to land Harps a hefty fine from the FAI.

"That bottle will cost us heavily," the spokesperson said. "The bottom line is that it will cost us at least a player's week's wages. You can understand people getting frustrated, but throwing a bottle is just crazy.

"The policy is very clear: if we find the person and can identify them quite clearly they will get banned for life. We have done that before with an individual about two years ago. If we can identify them they will get a letter from the club solicitor telling them that they are banned from Finn Park.

"We would ask that any supporter who knows the exact identity of the person to come forward to any club official and it will be dealt with in total confidence. We have had bits of information already and we do have a fair idea of a description."
