EA Cup - Shelbourne v Sligo Rovers

Encounters between Shelbourne and Sligo Rovers are always lively affairs and it should be no different on Monday night as the Premier Division side visit Tolka Park for an EA Sports Cup Quarter Final (kick-off 8pm).

Shelbourne come into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over Athlone Town on Friday night which extended their lead in the Airtricity First Division to seven points. Sligo were also 2-0 winners on Friday, with the defending cup holders defeating Shamrock Rovers in the Showgrounds.

The sides have not played against each other since Shelbourne won the Premier Division in the 2006 season, but in that season, Shelbourne won two of the three league games, with the other drawn, having scored six times against Sligo’s one.

Shels manager Alan Mathews has only one injury concern ahead of the game. Stephen Paisley limped out of the Athlone game, just before half-time on Friday, is considered as doubtful.

For Sligo Rovers, Iarfhlaith Davoren is an injury doubt, with the left-back having failed a fitness test for Friday's win, but it is hoped he will be available for selection. The Bit o' Red have no other injury concerns.

Rovers boss Paul Cook said: "Shelbourne are top of their league with a fantastic record so far. They are a good side and have a number of excellent players in their ranks.

"Winning this trophy last year was great for the club and we're keen to do well in the competition once again."
